What
type of gift basket should I
buy, there are so many....
The
choices can boggle the mind.
Does the recipient have a hobby,
sport or particular type of
food that he or she really enjoys
such as fishing, golfing, drinking
coffee, running, etc. This can
be a good starting point as
well as celebrating a holiday,
special event or a goal someone
has reached. There are even
low-carb gift baskets. A specialty
gift basket celebrating either
a special holiday, event or
hobby is a sure winner! A fruit
basket is generally considered
appropriate for most occasions.

When
is the "season" for
gift baskets....
Gift
Baskets sell year around, but
the biggest event for gift baskets
and most any other retailer
is the Christmas season with
a high percentage of yearly
sales occurring in December.
Other holidays include Mother's
Day, Easter, Valentine's Day
and birthdays which, of course,
occur every day of the year.

Is
a gift card a necessity when
purchasing gift baskets....
A
gift card is important for a
couple of reasons. It lets the
buyer of the gift basket express
his reason for the purchase
and his feelings towards the
recipient. In this era of increased
security and greater scrutiny
of gifts, it also helps to alleviate
apprehensions about where the
gift came from.

Can
I make my own custom gift baskets....
Making
your own gift basket can be
fun & quite rewarding. Think
about how excited your recipient
will be when he or she realizes
that you handmade this especially
for them. Of course, due to
obvious time constraints we
have in this fast paced world,
this isn't always possible.
Don't think that a "basket'
is the only way to go. You can
use watering cans, plastic containers,
gift packaging, planters, most
anything. Fill up the bottom
with tissue paper or something
similar and start filling it
up: Gourmet food items, bath
goodies, CD's, candles, homemade
items.
If you are going to mail your
gift basket, then you should
buy some shrink wrap bags at
a store like WalMart, in the
crafts section. Place the basket
inside the bag and then use
a hair dryer on the bag and
will shrink around your basket,
holding everything in place.
Cut the excess plastic off,
tie a ribbon around it with
your gift card, and, voila,
you are done!
